Response received from my MP:

"We are implementing a full programme of measures to reverse the substantial erosion of civil liberties under the previous government. This includes safeguards against the misuse of anti-terrorism legislation. I have alerted our home office team to your concerns."

"Accept that should someone be engaging in an act of hostile reconnaissance, they would be using compact cameras or mobile phones and not large SLR type cameras or tripods."

This is often cited but is a spurious argument - who says 'they' won't use SLRs or tripods? Often the best place to hide is in plain view! Besides, if this were true, and I were one of 'them', I would go and buy an SLR and tripod because then I would be above suspicion!

This aside a nicely written letter – I have also written to my re-elected MP to bring this to her attention (she responded positively to the Digital Rights Bill issue so fingers crossed on this one as well).
