Wow! What a great response to the launch of PhotoLegal yesterday (Thursday). I’ve just been looking at the stats with Phill, and lots of people responded to the pieces written by Olivier Laurent at the British Journal of Photography (BJP) and Kate Day at the Telegraph. We’ll now do our best to live up to your expectations.
We recorded #1 last night, and I’ve been working on the edit today. It will be about half an hour when it’s finished, but we actually recorded over an hour and a half worth of conversation in between the various sections. We certainly had a laugh too.
At one point it appeared likely that James would have to be a voice actor for Phill, just like they used to do for Gerry Adams on the news. Despite having his microphone ready to record and several backups on standby, Phill couldn’t manage to make any of them work and ended up resorting to recording on his iPhone. The quality is surprisingly good, although we’ll aim to improve by #2.
Talking of which, we’re going to be talking about G20, Police harrassment, terrorism laws, photography in public places and the like. It can’t come soon enough – today I learned that a journalist with a telephoto lens was stopped and searched outside of the House of Lords. Photographers are facing harassment every day in Britain – we all need to be better prepared.
I’m pleased to be able to announce that Olivier Laurent, from the BJP, will join us for that recording.
In the meantime, it’s looking like episode #1 will go live on the site on Sunday – tomorrow both Phill and I are off for a special PhotowalkLondon at the London Wetland Centre – if you’re near London and you’ve nothing on tomorrow, why not join us?
